A message from Linda Stacey who is our School Games Organiser based at Newsome High School.
I hope that you are all keeping safe and well.
School Games Organisers across the country are producing and sharing activities which children can do at home with their families. I am using twitter as much as possible to share this information. There is absolutely loads out there so I am trying to select what I think is the best. If you use the following link, it will take you to my SGO public profile page where you can find all of the twitter feeds which I make or retweet.
https://www.yourschoolgames.com/sgo/newsome-high/ Please pass this link to all parents and young people so that they can access it themselves.
On this page, there is a Coronavirus section which has lots more ideas of activities which you can do with any pupils who you have in school and / or share it with families.
If you look at the School Games Active Championships section on the right hand side of the page, it explains about the TopYa app which can be accessed by anyone and is an app to encourage physical activity. It is for both primary and secondary young people. Please promote this to your young people.
You will also notice that several NGBs have come up with ideas which can be done at home,
My twitter account is: @NewsomeHighSPIN Please follow if you use twitter. If you do post anything about physical activity, please use the hashtag #stayhomestayactive
Physical Education in our school is delivered through the SPIRAL PE framework
SPIRAL PE is an online system which helps us teach children fundamental movement skills and develops these throughout their primary journey by increasing the challenge level year on year.
