Letter from Year 2 staff w/c 8th June

Date: 8th Jun 2020 @ 10:15am

Dear Year 2,

We hope you’ve had a lovely half term – although it may not have felt any different from the past few weeks for some of you! Hopefully you’ve had a little time off your school work and have been back on it this week!

Thank you for all the emails you have been sending to keep us up-to-date and entertaining us!

Mrs Williams was very proud seeing that Zuzanna has been keeping up with her Oak work, doing more reading and baking cookies. Her Lego models were fantastic too! Mrs Williams was also amazed to hear that Sienna had read 26 books and was still reading more (see the pictures in the reading challenge section)! Mrs Williams is incredibly proud of Lily for working on WRMH maths – persevering when you find something tricky is a very good trait to have – keep it up Lily! Evie has been incredibly busy at home over the past few weeks – Mrs Williams is so proud that she has learnt to tell the time in 5 minute increments and loved hearing about her baking, planting and family time. Mrs Williams also loved reading Elizah’s essay that she had written about the Shang Dynasty – a super plan too! It was lovely to see the family shield that Farley had made and to hear that he is enjoying reading at bedtime.  Mrs Williams also loved receiving an email from Ria and seeing the cards that Jack had made to send to his family.

Miss March has loved hearing about what Lexi has been getting up to- she went walking and found and re-hid a painted pebble, did some tie dying, and as Lexi & mum couldn’t visit her great grandma and grandad on the Isle of Wight Dad arranged a holiday in the garden at sunny Hepworth instead. Noah D has been working really hard on his WRMH maths but has also enjoyed time outside in the lovely sunshine! Lybah celebrated Eid and enjoyed spending time with her family, wearing some fantastic dresses.

Miss March’s Adventures

What a busy week I have had! As the weather was so fantastic I decided to start preparing my house and garden for the new puppy arrival. I have been very busy pulling up old decking and shovelling lots of rocks and soil- I think I will have some huge muscles when I come back to school.  This weekend I get to meet my puppy for the first time and I am extremely excited! I will make sure I share some pictures of her next week so you can see how much she has grown.

I am very happy that the lock down now means we can see other people from a safe distance. I had not seen my family members for over 6 weeks so it was lovely to enjoy some sunshine in the garden with my mum and dad. All I need now is to be back at school seeing all of your wonderful smiles! Hopefully it will not be too long.

Mrs Williams’ Adventures

Over half term I have been keeping busy in my garden as the weather has been gorgeous.  I’ve been weeding and re-planting and also painting timber to clad the new garage. I’ve also made some rainbow hearts – just because! I’ve been baking again but the same thing – the paradise slices are very popular! (I must bake something else next week!)

On Sunday, I was very excited when the Prime Minister said that people shielding would be allowed to go out once a day for exercise - so since then I have been out for a walk every day, even in the rain! It’s lovely to be able to get out of the house and it’s amazing to see how everything has changed – on my last walk before lockdown the trees had no leaves!

Reading Challenge

Since our last newsletter we’ve had lots more photos of you reading in strange places. Thank you so much to everyone that has sent them – they’ve made us smile. We think Sienna has found everywhere possible, Zuzanna reading in a kayak is probably the strangest but you can never beat a good den like Isabel.  Ayesha has found some brilliant places to read a variety of different books.
