School Organisation

There are three areas in school.

Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) is for children aged 3-5 years old. There are 52 part time places in our Nursery and children may access up to 30 hours (certain conditions apply) worth of sessions across the week. We have two reception classrooms where the emphasis is on learning and discovering through play. Children have the opportunity to work in different areas and can move between the two classrooms; there are focused activities within the classrooms for children to complete. Children in Nursery and Reception have access to the outdoors throughout the day.

Key Stage One (Year 1 and Year 2) is for children aged 5-7 years old. We have two Year 1 classes and two Year 2 classes. We ensure a smooth transition from Reception to Year 1 by building on the continuous curriculum the children have in the Foundation Stage. As children progress through Year 1 the classroom becomes more formal in preparation for Year 2.

Key Stage Two (Year 3 to Year 6) is for children aged 7 - 11 years old. We have 3 mixed Year 3/4 classes and 3 mixed age Year 5/6 classes. In Key Stage Two children are grouped according to ability for literacy and numeracy but spend the rest of their time in mixed ability classes.
