Meet the Governors

 

Mrs Tania Smith

Mrs Smith needs no introduction as Headteacher of Moldgreen Community Primary School. Mrs Smith oversees all aspects of school life working alongside the Governing Body, the School Senior Leadership Team, teaching and support staff.

Mrs Christine Hall

Mrs Hall is Chair of Governors at Moldgreen Community Primary School. Mrs Hall ensures that half termly governors meetings are run efficiently, in compliance with educational legislation to seek the best outcomes for the children at Moldgreen Community Primary School. Mrs Hall is the governor who oversees governor training.  In addition, Mrs Hall has a strategic role in the Standards and Effectiveness and Resources Committees. Mrs Hall is also involved with staffing matters. Mrs Hall ensures that all governors work to the good of the school, with a clear understanding of the school's strengths and commitment to improvement in targeted areas. Mrs Hall works from a document, drawn up by the school leadership called the School Improvement Plan (SIP). The SIP outlines the school's priorities. Some  of the areas the 2018 - 19 SIP will focus on are  children's reading, mathematics and the progress of children working beyond the expected level. During the first academic term the SIP is shared with all governors and staff. Each governor is expected to monitor and report on a specific area of the SIP and Mrs Hall ensures that this is done.

Mr Andrew Hancox

Mr Hancox has recently joined the Governing body as an L.A. governor taking up the role of Vice Chair and Safeguarding Governor.  Mr Hancox has received training so that he is able to work with the school's Designated Safeguarding Leaders to ensure that the school environment and planned activities are designed with the safety of the children in mind. In addition to this, Mr Hancox has an interest in data. As a member of the Standards and Effectiveness Committee he works with governors and staff to ensure data analysis is effective leading to improvements in teaching and learning.

Mrs Louise Szewczyk

Mrs Szewczyk is Deputy Head Teacher at Moldgreen Community Primary School and a co-opted Governor. Mrs Szewczyk plays an important role on the Standards and Effectiveness Committee reporting on pupil progress and strategies to further improve teaching and learning.

Mr Mohammed Ilyas 

Mr Ilyas has  been a governor for many years. His children have now left the school but he continues to be an ambassador for the school. Mr Ilyas has represented the school at multi faith events speaking about his Islamic faith. He is on the Resources Committee and he has a particular interest in the teaching and welfare of the more able pupils.

Mrs Helen Stead

Mrs Stead is on the Standards and Effectiveness Committee and is also the school's Early Years Governor. Mrs Stead spends some time each term observing the practice and pupils in Early Years enabling her to report the successes and needs of the pupils in the  Nursery and Reception classes. Mrs Stead works at the school as a Cover Supervisor.

Mr Dean Davis

Mr Davis  has a child at the school. Mr Davis is the school's SEN governor.  Mr Davis has a particular interest in inclusion having experience of attending multi agency meetings where a range of professionals attend to discuss best ways to support individuals. Mr Davis has a specific role on the Governing Body to ensure that all aspects of school practice are inclusive. Mr Davis helps ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable members of our school community are met.

Mr Trevor Armitage

Mr Armitage is a Parent Governor who has undertaken to take on the role of Equalities Governor.  As a parent, Mr Armitage has good knowledge of the school with children in several year groups.

Mrs Maria Sykes

Mrs Sykes has recently joined the Governing Body. Mrs Sykes is  the governor for oversight of Looked After Children and Child Protection.
